Tranquility Base lifts off at Google Cloud Next 2019 London!

Tranquility Base lifted off for the first time at Google Cloud Next 2019 in London’s Excel centre during 20-21 November 2019. Next ’19 London was a two day global exhibition of inspiration, innovation and education, where attendees learned how the Google Cloud can transform the way we work and power future success.

Throughout the exhibition we hosted a number of ‘Genius Sessions’ on our stand where our project leads talked about the Tranquility Base initiative and vision in more detail. A big thanks to our speakers, Parmendra Pratap, Karl Havard and Scott Holman who all did a sterling job presenting to an enthusiastic audience who provided positive feedback. We ran four Genius sessions each day, all of which were fully subscribed, with the audience listening in using our ‘silent disco’ headsets. Each of these sessions were so popular that many others crowded around the stand during each session and stayed to talk to our specialists afterwards. Outside of these presentations we had a steady flow of visitors on the stand, with a great balance of senior IT professionals and ambitious developers from many different industries.

Next ’19 was the first public outing for Tranquility Base and one of our main objectives was to extend our developer community – engaging with the enthusiastic attendees was a great way to forge such relationships with those who are equally passionate about DevOps and using Infrastructure as code (IaC) to achieve the highest levels of agility and reliability.

This event allowed us to demonstrate our innovative and exciting Tranquility Base project to over 400 attendees over the two days, which was an extremely valuable exercise, enabling us to gain first-hand insight and reaction from the visitors.
It’s safe to say we have a committed team who are doing amazing work, that is not only getting the attention of Google, but also many other partners too.

It is still early days but this very public ‘lift off’ really placed a stake in the ground for what is going to be a rapidly evolving programme as we strive to achieve our goals.

“We didn’t choose to build Tranquility Base because it was easy, we did it because getting to the cloud is hard!’

We look forward to sharing further news and details of upcoming events with you very soon!
